Books Published or Supported by the Society, 1950-2023

Since the beginning of the Swedish-American Historical Society, publishing books in our field has been a major focus. Since 1950 and the publication of our first book, the Society has published a total of 35 books.

Some of the books have been published directly by the Society. With other books, the Society has played a major role in supporting the publication of a book, even though it may have been published by another press. About a third of these books have now been digitized, and are available through the Society’s Swedish-American Archives of Greater Chicago website. Many of the others are available for sale through the Society’s website.

The following list shows each of the books published by the Swedish-American Historical Society in its first 75 years. The titles that have been digitized are so noted:
